The Challenge

The Challenge

Fred Hansen’s residency is focused on growing Adelaide as a liveable, sustainable and productive. The residency will challenge traditional development patterns through debate, critical thinking and innovative action on integrated transport, urban form and planning.

Fred will encourage community debate and demonstrate the benefits of well-planned higher density development along transport corridors and at key transit-oriented developments.

Together with his residency partners, Fred will develop practical principles and processes for the design of quality, character, and higher density developments. The purpose is to integrate transport networks and land use planning to advance economic, environmental, social, education and public health outcomes.

In addition, Fred will provide advice on the delivery and implementation of key transit-oriented high intensity developments and along transport corridors.

In a city, which traditionally favours single family suburban homes and a dependence on cars, this is quite a challenge!
