The Challenge
The focus of Stephen Schneider’s residency was to support South Australia’s vision of becoming a low emissions society and a global leader in combating climate change through developing practical initiatives and increasing community knowledge.
Stephen worked with individuals and organisations across the State, including SA Water, Universities, farmers, schools, businesses and environmental groups, to collaboratively develop ways for South Australia to address climate change.
Stephen made important contributions to a number of ongoing State Government initiatives, helping to shape the groundbreaking Climate Change and Greenhouse Emissions Reduction Bill 2006 and Tackling Climate Change: South Australia’s Greenhouse Strategy 2006-2020.
In his final report Climate Change: Risks and Opportunities Stephen recognises the need for integrated solutions combining practical initiatives, incentives and actions to drive change.
Stephen Schneider was in residence between April and August 2006.
